Former Telangana TDP head L Ramana today joined the TRS after he
recently resigned from the yellow party just days ago.
TRS working president, IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao, welcomed Ramana into the pink party.
Rao, along with BC Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar, SC Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar, and other senior TRS leaders, offered Ramana the party's primary membership papers.
(Reports say that the former TDP minister will however receive the well-known TRS shawl from Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at another program which will be held on July 16.)
Speaking on the occasion, KTR stated that Ramana was a senior leader with a long political career and that he was happy to be welcoming the latter into the TRS.
"Telangana has been and will continue to develop under the leadership of CM KCR. Leaders from several other parties are coming to join us as they too see that we will always work for the development of the state and the welfare of people. They are joining our party as a sign of their support for KCR's way of running the state," he asserted.
Kamalakar and Eshwar also expressed their happiness at Ramana's entry into the TRS and said that the party would gain strength in Karimnagar with this addition.
"He is a committed BC leader who we are sure will work for the community's welfare. He will get due recognition in the party and will help us in future electoral battles," they added.
The former TDP leader, who had been a close aide of party supremo Chandrababu Naidu for nearly three decades, said that he had joined the ruling party so that he could be a more active participant in the state's developmental process.
While the TRS is celebrating, Ramana's resignation has caused
much agitation within the already weak Telangana TDP.
