Telangana TDP president L Ramana is likely to switch over to the TRS soon. If reports are to believed, Ramana is considering the switch as the ruling party offered him an MLC post. There are currently six MLC seats to be filled under the MLA quota and another under the Governor quota. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, it is being said, is keen to give one of those six posts to Ramana.
The TRS has been in talks with him to convince him to take up the party's offer. Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao reportedly held discussions with Ramana on the matter. Party sources claim that Rao successfully convincing the TDP bigwig to join the pink party by informing the latter that the TRS would offer him an MLC ticket, and would accord to him the respect due to a senior leader.
After former Health Minister Etala Rajender was shunted out of the Cabinet for his "anti-party activities" and for talking against the CM, there is a vacancy in the Huzurabad segment. Since the constituency needs a strong BC leader, the TRS leadership is frantically looking for exactly such a candidate to be able to retain the seat.
As the TDP is all but entirely wiped out in Telangana, the switch will be beneficial to Ramana too. He will likely take a call after talking to the people of his segment and after speaking to the CM, and may announce his decision in the next two or three days.
