Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will likely visit the Nagarjuna Sagar constituency on Monday (August 2).
According to reports, Rao will attend some developmental programs there and announce some sops for the Nalgonda district. Power Minister G Jagadish Reddy and some local leaders have made all the arrangements for the visit.
Apart from attending developmental programs, the TRS supremo is to also address a public meeting - he will hold a day-long meeting in Halia to review the implementation of the
promises made to the people of the region during of the Nagarjuna Sagar by-election. It is expected that he will talk about the new Dalit Bandhu scheme, which is to be implemented in the state in a phased manner, as well.
Further, it is being reported that he will direct the officials of the district to conduct more Covid-19 tests and speed up the vaccination drive in the region.
KCR is also likely to announce the Cabinet's decision to waive all farmer loans of Rs 50,000 to help the state's agrarian community.
However, the primary reason for the Nagarjuna Sagar visit is that though the CM had promised to visit the constituency within a fortnight of the April by-election, which the TRS had
won by a considerable margin, the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic had disrupted these plans. Later, political instability and turmoil, following former minister Etala Rajender's dismissal from the state Cabinet, had further delayed the visit.
Now, with the Huzurabad by-election fast approaching, the Opposition has been having a field day pointing out how KCR has "broken" the promise made to the people of Nagarjuna Sagar. Leaders of the Opposition have even been cautioning the residents of Huzurabad that their constituency too will receive the same treatment from the state government.
The CM's sudden visit may just be a way to counter the criticisms of the Opposition.
