Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today released Rs 500 crore for the implementation of the state's newest flagship scheme, Dalit Bandhu, in Huzurabad constituency of Karimnagar district at a public meeting.
During the meeting, KCR launched the scheme on a pilot basis in the constituency.
(Though the program was officially launched only today, earlier this month, it has already been
implemented in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district's Vasalamarri village for the benefit of 76 local SC families who each received Rs 10 lakh under it.)
Further, following the orders of the state Cabinet, the Telangana SC Cooperative Development Corporation issued the orders for the release of the funds.
The government has so far released Rs 1,000 crore for the implementation of the scheme in Huzurabad. Reports say that another Rs 1,000 crore will also be released soon. The officials concerned have been instructed to take the necessary action to expedite the release of the funds for the development of Huzurabad.
The GO also revealed that another Rs 1,000 crore would be released soon as the CM had recently promised to sanction a total of Rs 2,000 crore for Huzurabad's development.
While the SC community of the state may be rejoicing, the parties of the Opposition have been relentless in their attacks on the scheme.
Raising objections about both the timing and the location of the launch of the program, they have been claiming that the TRS government has launched the Dalit Bandhu scheme just
to win the upcoming by-election in Huzurabad, and have demanded that the SC empowerment scheme be implemented all over the state immediately.
