Secretary of the Telangana unit of the CPI Chada Venkat Reddy today lambasted Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, alleging that the latter and his government had come up with the Dalit Bandhu welfare scheme only to "benefit" in the upcoming Huzurabad by-election.
Speaking to the media on the matter, Reddy also alleged that the CM had "no real commitment" towards the development of the Dalit community in the state.
He claimed that the KCR regime's "unjust ways" were revealed through the fact that it was filing "false cases" against the poor for setting up huts to live in, and added, "The CPI will raise its voice against the TRS government's injustice. We will take up a padayatra demanding that the government give pattas to all those who are cultivating podu lands. Our padayatra will be held from August 4 to August 8."
The leader said that the march would start from the Komaram Bhim Asifabad district and conclude in the Bhadadri Kothagudem district.
His tirade against the Dalit empowerment scheme and the "unjust" KCR regime come after a group of outsourced nurses, who were recently dismissed from their posts, met him and submitted a representation to him, urging him to "fight" for their rights and help resolve their problems.
Yesterday, the leaders of the women's wing of the Telangana Congress had also made similar allegations against the CM. They had claimed that the CM had come up with the Dalit Bandhu scheme only
to secure votes for the TRS in the upcoming by-election.
