KCR, Governor Pay Respects To Gandhi
Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao today paid his respects to Gandhi on the latter's 73rd death anniversary.

As programs to honour Gandhi on his 73rd death anniversary were organised across the country, similar events were organised in Telangana too.
Both Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao paid rich floral tributes to the legendary freedom fighter at Bapu Ghat, near Langar House, and lauded his commitment to the Indian freedom struggle.
Soundararajan praised Gandhi for successfully adopting the path of non-violence and satyagraha, to achieve independence from the colonial British rulers.
The Governor, along with other dignitaries, also observed two minutes of silence in his honour.
The Chief Minister too expressed his deep respect and appreciation for Gandhi, and lauded him for his service to the country.
"The Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, taught the world a new path of resistance through prayer, pleading and dissenting. He is a role model for people across the world," KCR said.
"Gandhi was an idealist who dedicated his life to the nation. He also taught the nation the power and value of honesty, harmony and ahimsa," he added.
To mark the occasion, the state government also conducted prayers at various different religious sites.
Other TRS leaders including ministers K T Rama Rao, Mohammed Mahmood Ali and Talasani Srinivas Yadav, and MP K Keshava Rao also paid their respects to Gandhi.
At the Assembly, Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy paid tributes to Gandhi at his statue on the premises.
