The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee is planning to organise massive protests on October 16 during the visit of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to attend the global biodiversity conference in the city.
The decision was reportedly taken during an informal meeting attended by TPJAC chairman M Kodandaram, CPI State Secretary K Narayana and other leaders. Instead of a centralised protest, the JAC leaders are planning sporadic protests in different forms, across the city, during the Prime Minister's visit.
Earlier in the day, Kodandaram and other JAC leaders visited the BJP state office to thank BJP leaders for their support to the Telangana March.
Later, talking to reporters, Kodandaram said the Telangana March was a grand success. He also welcomed the statement of Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde who described the march as peaceful.
However, Kondandaram alleged that the police had caused several obstructions for the march, and that they were also now registering false cases against the Telangana activists.
Kodandaram also claimed that Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao had held fruitful talks with the leaders in New Delhi over the Telangana issue. (INN)
