Dismissing Chandrababu Naidu's Delhi tour, Sharmila Reddy says that his only aim to go there is to ask for personal favours.
Dismissing N Chandrababu Naidu's Delhi tour, which comprised TDP leaders of the Telangana and the Seemandhra regions, the YSRCP said that the opposition leader's claim that he would solve the political imbroglio in the state is "ridiculous".
Party leaders said that the only reason for Naidu leading the entourage is to show off his strength to the Congress high command and use it as a weapon for personal favours.
"There is no difference between the Praja Rajyam Party, that merged with Congress, and the TDP, that has been extending support to the Congress. The parading of TDP leaders in Delhi is for a hard-bargain, in his favour, with the show of strength. But the trip has nothing to do with clearing the uncertainty in the state," Sharmila said, while addressing a public meeting at Vishakapatnam on Sunday, during the Samaikya Shankaravam.
"The uncertainty and imbroglio over the division arose due to the letter Naidu gave to the Centre, expressing no objection to bifurcating the state," she said. She added that Naidu's delegation to Delhi "clearly indicates that he is on a mission to play foul" with Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who just moved a bail petition.
She accused the TDP leader of "using the contingent of his elected leaders as a commodity" to trade with the Congress High Command. "This is a conspiracy to keep Y S Jaganmohan Reddy away from the people," she said.
She added, "Naidu's padayatras, bus yatras and Delhi yatras will not yield any results, as the YSRCP is with the people, and Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is the undisputed leader of the people. He will steer the party to victory in the next elections."
She alleged that Naidu's trip to Delhi is a "farce" as he has already given a letter approving the bifurcation of the state. "Unless he withdraws the letter, and announces his support to the united state, his stand will continue to be dubious, just like his deeds and deals," she added.
Sharmila spoke about Naidu's earlier statement, in which he said that the "two regions are like two eyes". She said, "His double standards and double speak have now come into the open. It is evident by his way of going on a bus yatra in Seemandhra in spite of his letter agreeing to the bifurcation of the state".
"YSRCP, on its part, has clarity on its stand, and the MLAs had quit ahead of the CWC's decision to split the state. Also, the party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and honorary president Y S Vijayamma went on a fast for the cause of a united state, besides writing letters to the Centre.
"The Congress and TDP leaders are still hanging on to their posts, as their priorities are to stay in office at any cost. The people's sentiments come next. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy knew of the division in advance, but was silent. If all Seemandhra leaders from all the parties had quit immediately after the announcement to divide the state, the situation would have been very different," she opined.
"Water sharing and capital development are the most contentious issues and without addressing these, the Centre cannot divide the state against the wishes of the majority of the people," said Sharmila.
Sharmila said that YSRCP demands that the state be united, and said that the Centre has no right to divide the state without solving issues that arise out of the bifurcation. (INN)
