Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that the Telangana issue is of high priority to the government, and that it was receiving "utmost attention".
Addressing reporters on Tuesday, while returning from the USA after attending the UN General Assembly session, the PM said that he would enquire about the status of the implementation of the CWC's Telangana decision.
"The Telengana issue is receiving the attention of the government. As soon as I go back, I will find out from the Home Minister (Sushil Kumar Shinde) as to what stage he has been able to reach in this regard. But we assure you that this is very much in our thoughts," he said.
The Congress government's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh and form a separate Telangana state, has not seen favour of the people from the Seemanthra region. Ever since the announcement, the region has been witness to an indefinite strike.
