"Special Status Bad For Telangana"
The Telangana Industrialists Federation claims that the awarding of a Special Category Status for the state of Andhra Pradesh will have a negative impact on Telang
The Telangana Industrialists Federation (TIF) has expressed concerns that the Special Category Status (SCS) for the residual state of Andhra Pradesh will have
a negative impact on Telangana.
"This move will have tremendous repercussions for the other Indian states, including the neighboring state of Telangana. The government is distorting the playing field
under the guise of addressing Seemandhra concerns," TIF president K Sudhir Reddy said in a statement on Wednesday.
It may be mentioned here that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh made a statement on the floor of Rajya Sabha on February 20, announcing that the residual state of
Andhra Pradesh will receive Special Category Status (SCS) for a period of five years.
To discuss the impact of this decision, a seminar on the subject of "Industrial development in Telangana - Problems and Prospects with focus on Special Category
Status? is being conducted on February 28 between 10.00 am to 1.00 pm.
The seminar will be held at the Surana Udyog Auditorium, FAPCCI Building at Red Hills.
It is being organized by the TIF, in association with the U S and the Indian branches of the Telangana Development Forum (TDF) and the Federation of Chamber of
Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI).
HCU's Chancellor Hanmantha Rao will deliver the key-note address.
TJAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram, Government Advisor Dr G Raja Reddy, Peddapalli MP G Vivek, CESS professor Dr E Revathi, FAPCCI president Ayyadevara Srinivas and other
industrialists will address the seminar. (INN)
