Telangana Issue Due To Leaders: CPI
The struggle for a separate Telangana state was triggered because leaders had failed to honour promises made to people of the backward Telangana region, asserts K Narayana.
Communist Party Of India state secretary K Narayana, on Friday, accused leaders of failing to implement the agreements entered into during the merger of Andhra and Telangana.
Addressing the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Vishaalandhra telugu daily at Ravindra Bharati on Friday, Narayana said that the struggle for a separate Telangana state was triggered since leaders had failed to fulfill the promises made to the people of the backward Telangana region.
Stating that the title Vishaalandhra was different from the problem, Narayana reminded that the daily had fought for a united Andhra Pradesh during 1956.
Objecting to the CPI being blamed for the Telangana issue, he said that the daily must be appreciated for having the guts to publish news favoring Telangana state formation now.
Narayana demanded that the Congress fulfill its promise made to the people of Telangana and form a separate state for them.
Speaking on the occasion, Communist Party of India (Marxist) state secretary B V Raghavulu said that there was no question of the newspapers Vishaalandhra and Prajashakthi getting outdated even after 60 years of existence. He said that these dailies were known for their genuine and constructive news. (INN)
