Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana, on Saturday, stated that there was nothing wrong in having 2 states for Telugu-speaking people.
Talking to media persons after submitting a report on the presidential elections in the state to the Congress high command, the PCC chief said that there was nothing wrong in there existing 2 Telugu-speaking states when there are 13 states for the Hindi-speaking population.
Stating that the Centre has focused its attention on resolving the Telangana statehood issue, Botsa Satyanarayana expressed confidence that the government would address it soon.
He said that the Congress would stand by whatever decision the Centre takes on the matter.
Botsa said that there was no need to find fault in the statement of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao that the government would take a decision on Telangana state by September this year.
The PCC chief said that he has no information over the expansion of Cabinet in the state, as claimed by Congress observer K B Krishna Murthy.
Meanwhile, responding to a question on the YSR Congress Party extending its support to UPA presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee in the election, he appealed to people to understand the "double standards" adopted by the YSRCP over the arrest of its leader Jaganmohan Reddy. He said that earlier, the YSRCP had alleged that the Congress was responsible for Jagan's arrest, and that now, it had changed its stance and observed that the Congress was not responsible for the arrest. This has exposed its double-speak, he said. (INN)
