The Supreme Court of India today said that the Telangana High Court would take a decision on the next course of action in the sensational encounter of the accused in the Disha rape and murder case.
A bench headed by the Chief Justice of India made these remarks during a hearing on the case.
It also said that it could not directly monitor the case.
It added that the Justice Sirpurkar Commission constituted by it to hold an inquiry into the encounter issue had not only submitted a detailed report on the issue of the encounter, but had also made certain suggestions.
It said that it would send a report to the HC on the issue, and that the Telangana High Court would then take the decision as per law of the land.
The apex court noted that the encounter had created a nationwide sensation.
The Sirpurkar Commission had termed the encounter of the Disha case accused as fake in its report.
