Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar today expressed his anger over the "poor" arrangements made for the Saraswathi Pushkaralu, and alleged that the Revanth Reddy-led government was giving significant attention to organising beauty pageants but had failed to extend the same efforts for managing the sacred event.
He asked how only Rs 35 crore had been allocated for the Kaleshwaram Saraswathi Pushkaralu and how such a meagre amount could suffice for the successful conduct of the event.
Citing the recent Kumbh Mela, Sanjay claimed that the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government had extended exemplary hospitality to 50 crore devotees, while the Telangana government failed to provide similar arrangements for the 50 lakh devotees participating in the Pushkaralu.
The Union minister was speaking after taking the pushkara bath. He had arrived in Kaleshwaram this afternoon accompanied by his wife Bandi Aparna, and was given a grand welcome by the district Collector, the Superintendent of Police and other senior officials. He also received a ceremonial police salute. He then took the holy pushkara bath along with his wife amid the chanting of Vedic mantras by temple priests.
From the pushkar ghat, he proceeded directly to the Srikaleswara Mukteshwara temple, where the priests offered special blessings to the couple.
He expressed his happiness at taking part in the pushkaralu.
