Terming Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan's Mahila Darbar a political darbar, TRS MLA Jeevan Reddy accused Soundararajan of turning the Raj Bhavan into a party office.
Speaking at a press conference, Reddy said that Soundararajan had set a bad precedent by organising a political event at the Raj Bhavan, and that nowhere in the country had such an exercise been witnessed.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was resolving all the problems of Telangana and was delivering an administration much beyond the expectations of the people, and given that there was no need for the Governor to conduct a Praja Darbar at the Raj Bhavan, he said.
Pointing out that Narendra Modi, when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, had said that only people not affiliated to any political party should be appointed as Governors, Reddy alleged that the Prime Minister was now working in a manner completely contradictory to what he had himself said earlier, appointing dyed-in-the-wool BJP leaders to constitutional posts.
The TRS MLA said that if BJP leaders felt that there was nothing wrong in Soundararajan conducting Praja Darbars in the Raj Bhavan, then they should allow the Governors of the BJP-ruled States across the country too to organise such Praja Darbars.
"The Telangana government is following all protocol norms, and there are no issues in this regard with the Governor. But Tamilisai Soundararajan is deliberately making protocol an issue. If she wants to make the every matter a controversy, she should just join the BJP," Reddy said.
