T Governor, CM Pay Tributes To Gandhi At Bapu Ghat

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on Friday, Telangana and AP Governor E S L Narasimhan, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, ministers and others paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi at Bapu Ghat at Langar Houz on his 146th birth anniversary.

KCR arrived at Bapu Ghat in the morning before the Governor, and gave a warm welcome to the latter. They then walked up to Bapu's samadhi and offered floral tributes. They also spent some time listening to prayers and discourses from holy books, and watching cultural items presented by artistes.

Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Rajya Sabha member K Keshav Rao, Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Mahamood Ali, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Khairatabad MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar, Telangana State Tourism Corporation Managing Director Christina, Protocol Secretary Aravind Singh, Hyderabad district Collector Rahul Bojja and several officials were present at the event.

Earlier, TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy and other Congress leaders also offered tributes at Bapu Ghat. A steady stream of school children and the general public also visited the Bapu Ghat all through the day.

The CM later placed flowers at the pedestal of the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the Legislative Assembly premises, too. Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary, Council Chairman K Swamy Goud and other legislators also participated.
