Telangana Government To Purchase Wet Food Grains
Irrigation Minister Harish Rao said the government would purchase all the farm produce in the state that was soaked due to the untimely rains yesterday.
Irrigation and Marketing Minister T Harish Rao today said that the government would purchase all the farm produce in the state that was soaked due to the untimely rains yesterday.
He visited the marketyard in Siddipet on Friday, and interacted with the farmers and observed the wet grains.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Rao said that though the untimely rains had resulted in crops being damaged, asset and human losses, and produce in the market getting completely drenched, there was no need for panic among the farmers, since the millers would purchase all the food grains brought by the farmers to the markets.
He directed the officials to take steps to ensure that the millers procured all the farm produce in the markets.
Rao said that the government would extend all necessary help to the agriculture sector, and in time.
He also suggested to the farmers that they make use of the 10,000 tarpaulin covers provided to protect the food grains from getting wet.
