BJP Condemns Party Corporators' Arrest At HMWS&SB

Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar condemned the arrest of his party corporators agitating in front of the office of the HMWS&SB.
Hyderabad | 2nd May 2023
Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar today condemned the arrest of his party corporators who were agitating in front of the office of the Hyderabad Metro Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) in the city.

He asked the authorities concerned if the corporators did not have the right to respond to the tragic incidents of the drowning of innocent kids in the water board's manholes and storm water drains.

Targeting Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao, Bandi asked the minister what he was doing when the children of the State capital were drowning in the nalas, and to prevent the woes of the residents of the city due to the incessant rains hitting the city for the last couple of days.

He demanded that the GHMC and the water board spell out the steps being initiated by them to prevent the tragic incidents.

Claiming that the farmers of the State had lost around Rs 50,000 per acre due to the untimely rains, Bandi alleged that the State government had not yet extended any financial assistance to the farmers. He claimed that the promise of Chief Minister K Chnadrashekar Rao that his government would extend financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per acre to the rain-hit farmers was not yet implemented in the State, and called it a matter of shame.

He added that the callous attitude of the State government was clearly seen in the operation of the paddy procurement centres in the State. He alleged that the State agriculture department was in deep slumber despite the fact that the paddy brought to the procurement centres was being washed away due to the incessant rains, and termed it an unforgivable crime.

He added that although the State government was claiming that it would buy the wet paddy, the promise was not being implemented in reality. He demanded that the State government take steps for the immediate procurement of the wet paddy by establishing full-fledged paddy procurement centres. Claiming that the union government was bearing the cost of the operation of the procurement centres, he asked the State government what problem it had in procuring the paddy.

Bandi also demanded that KCR supply seeds and fertilizers free of cost to the farmers for the upcoming Kharif season. He also lamented that the State government had not yet introduced a comprehensive crop insurance scheme despite the frequent losses being sustained by the farmers due to the untimely rains. He said the farmers would have received crop insurance amount if KCR had implemented the union government's Fasal Bhima Yojana in Telangana.
