Farmers Asked To Change Schedule Of Paddy Cultivation
Minister T Harish Rao asked the farmers of the State to start planting for the Kharif and Rabi seasons a month in advance to avoid crop damages from rains.
Minister for Finance T Harish Rao today stressed that the farmers of the State should start planting for the Kharif and Rabi seasons a month in advance to avoid the crop damages from natural calamities.
Speaking to the media after visiting the damaged paddy fields in Siddipet Urban, Dubbaka and Thoguta mandals of Siddipet district, Rao said that unseasonal rains and hailstorms hitting Telangana in April every year and causing damage to crops in crores had become a regular affair.
"If the Yasangi season is commenced one month in advance, farmers will be rescued from the unseasonal rains and crop damages," Rao claimed.
"We will soon discuss the issue with the officials concerned and prepare an action plan to educate the farmers about rescheduling the crop seasons," he added.
A similar suggestion was also made by Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy who visited the damaged paddy fields in Banswada rural mandal of Kamareddy district today.
He too appealed to the farmers to change the schedule of paddy cultivation and start both seasons one month in advance to avoid huge losses.
