The Congress government today successfully mediated peace between the Gond tribals and the Muslim community following communal clashes that disrupted harmony in Jainoor, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad district, on September 4.
Panchayat Raj Minister Anasuya Seethakka Dansari and Khanapur MLA Vedema Bhojju met Telangana Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir at the Secretariat and briefed him on their meetings with Gond tribal leaders in Utnoor and Jainoor to understand the root causes of the recent unrest. In the meeting, the two leaders said that they were working diligently to restore the relations that had been peaceful for decades prior to the recent tensions.
Although the Telangana police registered several cases related to the clashes, the Congress leadership was focused on finding a long-term solution, they said. Separate discussions were held with leaders from both the tribal and the Muslim communities, emphasizing the importance of regional development and growth. Their efforts led both the communities to agree to resolve their differences peacefully, the minister and MLA claimed.
Shabbir Ali announced that a meeting with Muslim leaders from Jainoor and the surrounding areas would be held soon to further understand the causes of the conflict, with the goal of finding lasting solutions. After these separate discussions, a joint meeting would be organized to promote mutual understanding, followed by a meeting with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, he said.
Seethakka and Bhojju have already submitted a report to the Chief Minister regarding the violence. Their meeting with Shabbir Ali focused on devising and implementing a future action plan.
While the State government has decided to compensate those who lost property during the riots and the police have initiated legal action, Shabbir Ali emphasized that these measures alone were insufficient. The Congress leaders were taking proactive steps to prevent future conflicts by engaging with both communities, he said, and expressed optimism as elders and youth from both the sides were eager to maintain peace. He suggested that this approach could also serve as a model for addressing communal tensions nationwide.
