Responding to the incident of a stampede at Sandhya theatre in Hyderabad, where a woman died during a benefit show of
Pushpa 2, Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy today said that the State government was reconsidering its decision to allow benefit shows for new films in the future.
Expressing regret over the incident, the minister said that the government was seriously considering the matter, and would take appropriate action to prevent such incidents.
For context, actor Allu Arjun visited Sandhya theatre in Hyderabad on December 4 to watch a benefit show of his latest movie without informing the police. Upon learning of his arrival, a large crowd of fans gathered at the theatre, leading to a stampede and the death of a woman. The police have registered a case against the film unit and the management of the theatre.
