The Telangana government today sanctioned the recruitment for 14,236 (6,399 teachers and 7,837 helpers) positions in Anganwadi centres across the State.
The Women and Child Welfare Department has initiated this extensive hiring process, aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of these centres.
This marks the largest recruitment drive for Anganwadi staff in Telangana to date, and aligns with the State government's efforts to strengthen the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme.
The official notification detailing the application process and eligibility criteria is slated for release following the conclusion of the current election code period.
The various district Collectors will oversee the recruitment process, ensuring transparency and adherence to guidelines.
Telangana currently operates 35,700 Anganwadi centres under 149 ICDS projects, providing services such as supplementary nutrition, immunization, health check-ups and pre-school non-formal education. The infusion of these new personnel is expected to significantly improve service delivery in these centres.
In a related development, the government has increased the retirement age for Anganwadi teachers, Mini Anganwadi teachers, and helpers from 60 to 65 years.
This policy change, effective from April 30 annually, also includes financial assistance upon retirement - Rs 1 lakh for Anganwadi teachers and Rs 50,000 for Mini Anganwadi teachers and helpers. The retiring staff will also be eligible for Aasara pensions.
Prospective candidates are encouraged to monitor the official website of the Women Development and Child Welfare Department for updates on the application process.
