BRS working president K T Rama Rao today said that the reports that the Amara Raja Group would leave the State if the Telangana government did not abide by the promises made to it, were very unfortunate if true.
He claimed that after the formation of the Congress government, many organisations were leaving the State unable to reconcile with the attitude of the government.
"A company called Cannes Technology moved from Telangana to Gujarat, and Corning has shifted its plant to Chennai. Now Amara Raja is also saying that it will leave," he said, and warned that this would cause serious damage to the Telangana brand.
He suggested to the government that mortgaging the interests of the State for political gains was not good, and that the policies of the government should continue to be focused on attracting investments.
"We have worked very hard to convince Amara Raja to invest Rs 9,500 crore in Telangana. I hope the Congress government will keep the promises made to investors by the BRS government to bring investments to the State," KTR said.
"Telangana has the highest per capita income in the country and is the highest revenue-surplus State. It is sad that the Chief Minister himself is propagating that the State is in debt and bankrupt," he said, and appealed to the CM not to make such statements which were seriously detrimental to the interests of the State.
He said that the government should at least now wake up and take steps to ensure that Amara Raja did not move to other places.
"The Congress government should keep the promises made to the group by the previous government. Otherwise, more companies will have to leave the State," KTR said.
