Cong Playing Politics Over T: BJP
Rajnath Singh accuses the Congress of playing dirty politics over the formation of Telangana.
Hyderabad | 11th March 2014
BJP national president Rajnath Singh accused the Congress party of deliberately delaying the formation of Telangana, which in turn had led to the suicide of over 1100 people in the struggle for the cause of statehood.
Addressing a public meeting at the Nizam College Grounds on Tuesday evening, Rajnath Singh accused the Congress party of playing "dirty politics" over the Telangana issue.
He said that the Congress party had been compelled to give Telangana due to pressure from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
He said that if the Congress party had been sincere about Telangana, then it would have initiated the bifurcation process long back, and not at the fag end of its term.
Rajnath Singh promised that if the BJP comes to power in the ensuing elections, then it will develop both the Telangana and Seemandhra regions equally.
He said that both the regions were facing problems like farmers' suicide, naxal menace, and shortage of drinking water amongst other issues, and that only the BJP government could resolve those problems.
The BJP president praised his party's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and claimed that Gujarat has emerged as a model state under his leadership.
He also condemned AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi for accusing the RSS of murdering Mahatma Gandhi. He said that the Congress leaders should learn their history before levelling such baseless allegations.
BJP senior leaders, including Prakash Javedkar, G Kishan Reddy, Bandaru Dattatreyya, Dr K Lakshman and others, also addressed the meeting. (INN)
