An attempt made by Telangana BJP leaders to stage a dharna before Gandhi Bhavan, the Telangana Congress headquarters, was foiled as the leaders were arrested on their way to the place and taken to different police stations.
The BJP leaders had planned to organize a protest demanding an apology from Congress president Rahul Gandhi to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Gandhi's allegations over the controversial Rafale deal.
Senior BJP leaders including G Kishan Reddy, MLA Raja Singh and MLC N Ramchander Rao among others took part in the protest.
The leaders began the rally from their party headquarters in Nampally and started marching towards Gandhi Bhavan, when the police stopped them and took them into preventive custody.
Speaking on the occasion, the BJP leaders alleged that the Congress president had been making baseless allegations against PM Modi over the Rafale deal to gain political mileage.
