The Osmania University Joint Action Commitee (OUJAC) on Tuesday burnt an effigy of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu at the OU campus.
The students were reportedly irked by the treatment being meted out to Nagam Janardhan Reddy, a leader who they say is an honest warrior of the Telangana statehood demand.
The irate OUJAC also declared that they would not allow the conduction of the Mahanadu, the TDP's annual event, in Gandipet on May 27th.
They demanded that the TDP chief address a letter seeking a separate Telangana to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram first, and that they would then allow the party to conduct any number of public events in Telangana.
The TDP's Mahanadu has been the bone of contention ever since Chandrababu Naidu declared that the Telangana issue would not feature at the mega-event. Numerous Telangana leaders, including Nagam, had demanded that the Telangana issue be penciled in the layout of the program.
