Nagam Janardhan Reddy, who won the by-elections as an independent candidate from the Nagar Kurnool Assembly constituency, on Wednesday, demanded that Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu write a letter to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, stating that his party has no objection to the formation of a Telangana state.
Talking to media persons after the declaration of the by-election results, a jubilant Nagam stated that the outcome of the by-election results in the Telangana region have taught a fitting lesson to the "betrayers" of Telangana.
"At least now Naidu must learn a lesson from the by-elections and write a letter to P Chidambaram stating that TDP is not opposed to the bifurcation of the state," he said.
Nagam also advised Telugu Desam Telangana Forum members to mount pressure on Naidu to write the said letter to the Centre.
If Naidu fails to write the letter, the Forum members must quit the TDP and prove their commitment towards statehood, he said. Else, the TDP would lose the confidence of Telangana people and be completely wiped out from the region, he said.
Nagam also thanked the people of the constituency for reposing their confidence on him and supporting the Telangana statehood cause. (INN)
