T-Employees Unions Oppose Non-Locals In GHMC

The Telangana Municipal Employees and Workers Association on Tuesday demanded that the non-local employees of the Andhra and Rayalaseema regions be allotted to the residuary State of Andhra Pradesh without being offered options.

In a representation given to GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar, Association President Triparthi Yadaiah and General Secretary P Jaganmohan, they said that the non-local employees, irrespective of their cadre - i. e. State, Zonal, Multi-Zonal or District - who were working in the GHMC and other municipalities in the Telangana area should be allotted to Andhra Pradesh based on their nativity, without being offered any options.

They also said that the employees who were appointed illegally in various categories in the GHMC and other municipalities in Telangana through violation of the Presidential Order of 1975, should also be allotted to the residuary State.

They said that the repatriation should be done before June 2, the Appointed Day when the State of Telangana will come into existence

They also demanded the removal of non-local contract employees before the Appointed Day.

The Association also demanded that the vacancies so created after the allotments to Andhra Pradesh and the repatriations be filled up through a special recruitment drive.

The Association strongly opposed the contract being given to M/s Ramky for clearance of garbage in the GHMC jurisdiction.

Besides causing a financial burden on the GHMC, the contract would pose a threat to hundreds of contract labourers who are engaged in the clearance of garbage in the city for many years, it said.

The State Government of Telangana may review the issue and take an appropriate decision on the matter, the Association leaders said. (INN)
