Corrupt Irrigation Engineer Arrested, Sent To Jail

The ACB raids on the house of Nikesh Kumar, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the irrigation department in Peerancheruvu, Gandipet mandal, came to an end today.
ACB officials conducted searches at 19 locations connected to Kumar and his relatives, including farmhouses in Tholkatta, Sajjanpally and Nakkalapalli in Moinabad mandal. During the raids, undisclosed assets were seized, revealing 6.5 acres of agricultural land in Moinabad, and three farmhouses and two commercial complexes in Shamshabad and Miyapur respectively.
Kumar also held significant assets in the names of his relatives.
The total worth of his disclosed assets was pegged at Rs 17,73,53,500, and their open market value is estimated at approximately Rs 100 crore.
Kumar was taken into custody by ACB authorities on Saturday night in connection with a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case. He was subsequently shifted to the ACB office in Nampally and produced before a judge at 6 am. The judge remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. The officials later transferred him to the Chanchalguda jail.
Incidentally, Kumar was arrested by the ACB officials six months ago, too, after he was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe.
