Telangana Home Minister Mahmood Ali today suspended a constable Sridhar of BDL Bhanur for creating a controversy by kicking a Chandrasekhar for protesting with the body of his daughter Sandhya Rani, a student of a private college, who allegedly committed suicide.
The incident invited the wrath of IT Minister K T Rama Rao, who asked the home minister and the DGP Mahender Reddy to take immediate action.
The Home Minister asked the Sangareddy SP Chandana Deepthi to suspend the constable for his behaviour.
It was an unfortunate incident which would not repeat, Mahender Reddy said.
Rao also expressed displeasure at the incident and directed the officials and staff to have sympathy for people in grief.
Sandhya Rani, a student of a private college in Ramachandrapuram near Patancheru, allegedly committed suicide, and the reasons are yet to be ascertained. Her body was shifted from the Citizen Hospital to the area hospital in Patancheru for a post mortem by BDL Bhanurpolicemen, according to information.
Student union leaders staged a protest along with her father by trying to take away the body to the college, and in the event the constable kicked Chandrasekhar in his back.
The DGP had issued orders attaching the constable to the Sangareddy Armed Reserve Headquarters that day itself, and the action today is following that.
