Congress leader A Revanth Reddy alleged that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had failed to stick to his word about releasing prisoners on compassionate grounds on the occasion of Republic Day.
Reddy addressed a letter to the CM in this regard on Tuesday, in which he appealed to KCR to release at least prisoners (men and women) who had come close to completing their prison sentences.
In his letter, Reddy also noted that the previous governments had released prisoners by issuing GOs 132, 1040, 413, 357 and 580 during their respective regimes, and demanded that the CM, too, release prisoners following the footsteps of his predecessors and give them new leases of life.
