The main opposition party in Telangana and the major party in the grand alliance, the Congress, has finally reached out to the CPI, one of the more restless alliance partners.
The move of the Congress comes in the wake of the reports that the Left party was not happy with the way the Congress was treating it in the state, and that it (the CPI) might pull out of the grand alliance if it was not given the Assembly seats it demanded to contest from.
Some senior Congress leaders called up the Left party top brass and urged them to not take any hasty decision, assuring them that they would finalize the seat-sharing arrangement in a day or two.
The Congress has also decided to convene a meeting of the grand alliance partners to finalize the allocation of the Assembly seats among them for contesting.
The leaders have kept the venue of the meeting a secret to avoid any kind of media attention.
According to the reliable sources from the Congress, AICC Telangana in-charge R C Kuntia and TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy will fly down to New Delhi after the approval of the seat-sharing list by the alliance partners at this meeting to seek the approval of the party's highest decision making body, the CWC, on Tuesday.
"We have already asked the CPI leaders to not take any hasty decision which will affect the prospects of the grand alliance. We told them that we would finalize the seats for their party to contest from, and take the approval of our high command for making the official announcement. They have agreed to our request," a senior party leader said.
