The Telangana unit of the Congress has decided to hold Eid Milap celebrations in Hyderabad on July 31. The celebrations will be organised by the minority cell of the party.
In a statement on the matter, party minority cell chairman Sameer Waliullah said that the Congress had not been able to hold the Dawat-e-Iftaar and Eid Milap celebrations for the last two years due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, but that this year, the functions could be held since lockdown restrictions had been lifted and case figures had been falling as well.
He added that the newly appointed TPCC head, MP A Revanth Reddy, would also take part in the festivities.
Further, Waliullah revealed that Reddy and other office bearers would be felicitated on the occasion and that AICC state in-charge Manickam Tagore would also attend the event as chief guest.
He urged the party leaders and workers to attend the event only after wearing face masks.
Though Covid-19 cases have indeed been coming down in the state, 623 new cases and 3 deaths were recorded today. This has pushed up Telangana's total fatality tally to 3,796. The number of active cases currently stands at 9,188.
