The Congress today released its third "chargesheet", highlighting the "failures" of the ruling BRS in the agriculture sector this time.
AICC programs implementation committee chairman Maheswar Reddy released the chargesheet.
Speaking on the occasion, he alleged that the ruling party leaders had destroyed the agriculture sector of the State after promising it to transform it into a golden sector.
He claimed that the BRS leaders had ignored the futures of tenant farmers by implementing the Rythu Bandhu scheme only for regular farmers who owned lands.
He also alleged that the Rythu Bandhu scheme was also not being implemented properly in several parts of Telangana.
Reddy also said that the promise of the BRS to waive off farm loans was also not fulfilled so far in its second term, and that the farmers of the State were facing a lot of problems as they were not able to avail themselves of fresh loans due to the non-implementation of the crop loan waiver scheme.
He said that several debt-ridden farmers were committing suicides, and that a total of 6,000 farmers had committed suicides in Telangana from the year 2014 as per the statistics of the National Crimes Record Bureau. He added that Telangana stood fourth in the country in suicides by farmers.
Maheswar Reddy called agriculture minister S Niranjan Reddy an inefficient leader who just insulted the farmers who had committed suicides. He also alleged that the State government had not come to the rescue of the farmers who had not cultivated paddy after its statements that it would not buy paddy.
