The Congress MPs from Telangana, on Wednesday morning, called on chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at his camp office, and thanked him for
lifting all police cases against students and agitators who took part in the separate statehood agitation.
Talking to media persons, the MPs said that they had met the chief minister only to thank him for taking a favourable decision on the long-pending demand of withdrawing police cases against students.
"This is only a courtesy call to thank him for lifting police cases, and there is not much importance to the meeting (sic)," the MPs said.
They said the 'generous act' of the state government would help the students immensely, and that the latter can now continue their education and career without obstacles.
The MPs' delegation consisted of Ponnam Prabhakar, Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy, Gutta Sukender Reddy and Manda Jagannatham.
9 MPs from the Telangana region had began their fast on Monday, demanding the lifting of police cases against students. Bowing to the pressure of MPs, the state government decided to lift all 1,665 cases involving 8,047 students.
