AICC spokesperson P C Chacko on Thursday ruled out the possibilities of imposition of President's Rule in Andhra Pradesh in the near future.
Speaking to media persons here, Chacko said that the President's Rule would be the last resort if the entire administration fails to control the situation. However, he said that Andhra Pradesh was not facing such a situation. He told the reporters that the state was being run by an elected government, and ensuring law and order was its responsibility. He said that efforts were being made to ensure that the state government takes measures to maintain law and order in the state. Although there are some problems, the situation is not out of control, he said.
Hee added, "However, the the President's Rule might be considered only as a last resort."
Chacko also defended Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy?s open criticism of the Centre's decision to bifurcate the state. Hoping that the CM would abide by the party's decision, he said that the statement was made "under tremendous pressure". (INN)
