T Cong Leaders To Resign En Masse
Telangana Congress leaders have said that they will start submitting their resignations from 2 Oct, if the Centre fails to take a "favourable" decision by 30 Sep.
Congress MP Gutta Sukhender Reddy on Friday stated that the party's Telangana leaders would announce their future course of action after 30 September.
Talking to media persons after emerging from the Telangana Congress Steering Committee meeting held at Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao's residence, he said that the deadline was set after the party High Command promised to solve the Telangana issue by then.
Rajya Sabha MP K Kesava Rao and Minister K Jana Reddy will meet the High Command on 19 September and prevail upon it to take a pro-Telangana decision, Sukhender Reddy said.
The Congress MP announced that if the Centre fails to take a favourable decision by 30 Sep, Telangana Congress leaders would start submitting their resignations, in a phased manner, from 2 October.
"This time the resignation letter will be submitted directly to the High Command," he said.
Condemning the arrest of Telangana Employees' Joint Action Committee chairman Swamy Goud, he said the government cannot suppress the Telangana agitation by arresting its leaders. He said that the Steering Committee has expressed its total support to the employees' general strike.
Regarding the issue of the Banswada by-polls, Sukhender Reddy said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy must take moral responsibility if the Congress loses its deposits in the by-election. He said the Steering Committee was totally against contesting the Banswada by-polls.
He also slammed Ministers T G Venkatesh and S Sailajanath for their 'derogative' statements on the Telangana agitation. (INN)
