TRS Sabotaging T-Cong Reputation: VHR
V Hanumanth Rao accuses TRS leaders of using the media to sabotage the reputation of Telangana Congress leaders.
Hyderabad | 20th March 2014
Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao, on Thursday, accused the Telangana Rashtra Samithi leaders of carrying out cheap propaganda tricks against the Telangana Congress leaders through the newspaper and television news channels that they own.
Speaking to media personnel, VHR alleged that the TRS has stooped down to the level of initiating personal attacks against the Congress leaders to tarnish their image among the public.
He claimed that TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao was trying to take the entire credit for the formation of Telangana, which actually was the result of the continuous struggle of the people. He said that it was AICC president Sonia Gandhi and other leaders of the Congress party who had turned the dream of Telangana into a reality.
VHR also condemned TRS general secretary K Keshav Rao for the latter's criticism against the Congress party. He alleged that KK had switched his loyalties to the TRS after he was denied a ticket by the Congress party.
He said that KK should realise that it was the Congress party that had made him the president of the PCC, and also a member of Rajya Sabha.
"It is morally wrong to target a parent party which gave him the recognition that he enjoys today," Hanumanth Rao said.
He alleged that KCR has become greedy for power and that he has gone back on his promise of making a Dalit the CM of Telangana.
The Rajya Sabha MP also said that the Congress party has always promoted the leaders of Backward Classes.
He pointed out that leaders, including KK, Ponnala Lakshmiiah and Hanumanth himself had been made PCC Presidents.
Similarly, top posts were given to leaders like Siddaramaiah, S Bangarappa Ashok Gehlot and others. He said that Union minister Jairam Ramesh had already announced that a leader from the Backward Classes will be made the first Chief Minister of Telangana.
He said that only the Congress can ensure the development of the Backward Classes in the country. He alleged that TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu was trying to mislead the BCs by promising 50 tickets for the community. (INN)
