The Telangana Congress Steering Committee has decided to boycott the State Formation Day celebrations on 1 November.
It has also decided to boycott the
2nd phase of the Rachabanda program, that starts from 2 November.
These decisions were taken at the committee's meeting held at the residence of Rajya Sabha MP K Keshava Rao in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Briefing the media about the committee's decisions, Keshava Rao said that all elected representatives and leaders of the Telangana region would boycott the State Formation Day celebrations.
He also appealed to all Telangana ministers and other elected representatives to stay away from the official events to be organised on 1 November. He said that the State Formation Day would be observed as a Black Day across the region.
Keshava Rao said that the Steering Committee has also decided to boycott Rachabanda, but clarified that the Congress leaders would not oppose or object to the participation of officials in the event as the event would benefit thousands of people across the region.
He also announced that the Congress leaders would not participate in any official programs till the formation of a Telangana State.
The Rajya Sabha MP said that the committee has also decided to support the indefinite hunger fast being taken up by former minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy along with 1 lakh of his supporters at Nalgonda from 1 November.
Keshava Rao denied reports of differences amongst Telangana Congress leaders.
Congress MPs Ponnam Prabhakar, G Vivek, G Sukhender Reddy, Manda Jagannatham and S Rajaiah, MLAs Komatreddy Venkat Reddy and Ch Lingaiah attended the meeting. (INN)
