Congress Calls Sheep Scheme A Farce, Gives Numbers

Criticizing Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for comparing the opposition leaders to sheep, CLP Deputy leader T Jeevan Reddy said that the Opposition leaders were not wolves like KCR, who looked like a sheep but was in fact a wolf.

Speaking at the Assembly Media Hall on Thursday, Reddy said that though the opposition parties heartily welcomed the distribution of sheep to the Yadava community, sadly no sheep was more than six months old.

He also said that the government had distributed only 4,000 units (i. e. 4,000 sheep) in the first phase as against the committed 3.59 lakh units. That meant that the government had distributed only 1% of the sheep promised.

There was also a need for 1,500 veterinary doctors to treat the sheep, but the number of available vets in the state was far lower, and the sheep were dying due to diseases, Reddy said. That was scarily reminiscent of the fishlings distributed earlier perishing due to lack of oxygen as the government had failed to distribute fish seeds at an appropriate time, Reddy said, and alleged that the government was going more for publicity than for actual delivery. He said that he had a strong suspicion that the sheep scheme too would turn out to be another farce like the one to distribute three acres of land for dalits.

He said that he would write a letter to the Chief Minister in this regard.

He recalled that Y S Rajasekhar Reddy had implemented Arogyasri, fee reimbursement and 108 which were unique in the world. He had also performed mass marriages of Muslims. The ongoing irrigation projects too were designed and launched by YSR, he said.
