Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today said that his party, the TRS, would remain in power in the state for another 20 years.
Speaking at a state TRS committee meeting, the CM said that the welfare and development programs run by the government would "fetch" the support of the people for the party in future elections.
He then criticised the leaders of the Opposition for "carrying out misinformation campaigns" against the newly-launched Dalit Bandhu scheme and other welfare initiatives of the TRS regime and urged the ministers, MLAs, MPs and leaders to reveal the true nature of such schemes to the public.
At the meeting, the CM also discussed the steps to be taken to strengthen the pink party at the village and district level.
Addressing a press conference later, IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao revealed some decisions taken by the CM during the meeting. He claimed that there had been no discussion regarding the upcoming Huzurabad by-election and that the TRS would think of a strategy to capture the seat only after the notification for the election was released.
"Huzurabad is a strong TRS bastion and we are confident that we will win the by-election in the constituency. Assembly elections are due in two-and-a-half years. In the meantime, we will strengthen the party and will continue to implement schemes for people's welfare. Currently, our party has 88 Assembly seats out of 119 and 9 MP seats out of 17 in the state. We are not scared of elections as we have the support of the people," the minister asserted.
"Next month, our party will take steps to strengthen itself in villages and districts through local-level committees. We have to reach out to people across the state with schemes that will benefit and support them. Our Dalit Bandhu scheme is a prime example of our desire to work towards welfare and social justice. It has been introduced with the aim of uplifting the SC community which has been neglected by preceding governments of united Andhra Pradesh for decades," he added.
KTR also stated that the CM would lay a foundation stone for the construction of a Telangana Bhavan, a party office, in Delhi, on September 2.
