Congress senior leader Mallu Ravi on Saturday demanded that the Telangana government clear the arrears of Rs 1,326 crores to the college managements.
Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Ravi said that the managements of private colleges and the staff were facing lot of problems due to the pending dues.
Further, the students were facing uncertainty over the continuance of their studies.
He accused the government of pushing the managements and students to a suicidal situation.
Ravi said that several colleges had not paid salaries to their lecturers, and that a few of them were on the verge of closure.
He said that the people, especially the students' community, had a lot of expectations of the new government in view of the formation of Telangana. Therefore, he appealed to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to issue orders to clear the pending fee reimbursement arrears. (INN)
