Engineering Colleges Threaten To Shut Down
The managements of private engineering colleges threaten to close their institutions if the state government fails to clear their dues under the fee reimbursement scheme.
The managements of private engineering colleges in AP on Sunday threatened that they would close their institutions if the state government fails to clear their dues under the fee reimbursement scheme by January 20.
According to the Consortium of Private Engineering and Professional Colleges' Managements Association chairman Ramesh Aurora, the state government is yet to clear arrears of Rs. 200 crore towards the academic year of 2011-12. He demanded that the government release the funds under the fee reimbursement scheme for the current academic year. The colleges have threatened to shut down from January 21 if the government fails to clear the dues by January 20.
Andhra Pradesh has as many as 671 private engineering colleges, the highest in the country, with a total intake of 3.20 lakh students. (INN)
