Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee official spokesperson Konagala Mahesh demanded that Telangana State Council For Higher Education Chairman Papi Reddy tender his resignation, and asked the state government to order a CID inquiry into Reddy's role in various leaks and into his assets.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Mahesh alleged that Reddy has been facing allegations right from when he was a professor in Kakatiya University. Describing Reddy as a "Leak Veerudu", Mahesh alleged that he was playing games with the lives of students with his continuous corruption.
The government needed to order an inquiry into the EAMCET-2 leak scam worth Rs. 220 crore, and Reddy's role in it, Mahesh said. He also alleged that Reddy was also responsible for the E-CET confusion. Reddy was also an expert in allocating contracts to conduct examinations without inviting tenders, and anyone who believed in Papi Reddy though his firm didn't meet the required qualifications would get the contract delivered to his feet, Mahesh said. The parents from poor and middle class families were making their children pursue education by selling their gold and assets, but the likes of Papi Reddy were earning sinful money with commissions, he claimed.
He alleged that Reddy had entered into an agreement for a 18-acre plot of land worth crores of rupees at the Medak-Nalgonda border with Dundigal Damodar Reddy in the name of his wife T Shoba. Reddy used to reside at KPHB. but suddenly shifted to a very costly villa located in the Miyapur-Chanda Nagar area, he stated. He said that he had information that Reddy had earned crores of rupees in the Warangal-Hanumakonda and Hyderabad areas.
