The Telangana Congress Legislature Party on Tuesday approached the High Court in Hyderabad seeking disqualification of nine rebel MLCs.
In his petition, CLP Whip M S Prabhakar reportedly complained of inaction by Telangana Legislative Council Chairman K Swamy Goud against nine Congress MLCs who had switched loyalties to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
He sought the intervention of the High Court for the disqualification of the rebel MLCs under the Anti-Defection and other relevant laws.
The High Court directed the Advocate General to file his counter by January 27.
The MLCs whose disqualification has been sought include Bhanu Prasad, K R Amos, Yadav Reddy, Jagadeshwara Reddy, Rajeshwar Rao, Bhupal Reddy, Rajalingam and Nethi Vidyasagar. (INN)
