Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday directed officials to ensure uninterrupted nine-hour power supply to farmers each day during the Kharif season.
Addressing a review meeting at his camp office on Wednesday, the Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure that the nine-hour uninterrupted power supply to the agriculture sector remained glitch free.
He said that priority should be given to the farm sector so as to help the farmers enhance their yields this season.
The Chief Minister also directed the officials to keep a close tab on the demand-supply gap in the state.
He said that about 4,320 MW of power was available in Telangana, and this was expected to touch 7,000 MW by next March due to an increase in production and from other resources.
He said that the state would soon get additional power from different sources including 150 MW from Jajjar of NTPC, 290 MW through CGS, 810 MW from the Gayathri power plant, 600 MW from KTPC Bhupalapally and 1,200 MW from Jaipur of Singareni.
KCR claimed that by next year Telangana would overcome the power shortage, and by 2018 it would be a power-surplus state.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister confirmed the name "Yadadri Power Plant" for the plant being constructed at Damaracharla of the Nalgonda district.
He will lay the foundation stone for this power project soon. (INN)
