Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday congratulated the electricity department of the state for providing 24x7 power supply to all the sectors.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday said that the Telangana electricity department had rendered remarkable service by pulling the state out of a power crisis and supplying round-the-clock quality power to all the sectors.
KCR was speaking at a meeting with the electricity officials at Pragathi Bhavan on Saturday.
"When compared to other states in the country, Telangana is a step ahead in generation, distribution and supply of power," he said, and congratulated the power sector employees for making this possible.
During the course of meeting, the CM made various suggestions, which included preparation of action plans for all the lift irrigation schemes in the state, Mission Bhagiratha and the upcoming industrial units.
"New lift irrigation schemes are coming up on the Godavari river. Besides major ones like the Kaleswaram, Devadula and Sitarama projects, minor ones like the Gudem, Sripada and Yellampally projects are also coming up. Based on this, prepare estimates on the power demand. Power supply is also needed for 1,300 pump sets under Mission Bhagiratha. For Mission Bhagiratha and the lift irrigation schemes, there will be an additional demand for 10,000 to 12,000 MWs of power. The required power should be procured, and the distribution and supply networks should be strengthened," KCR said.
Energy Minister G Jagdish Reddy, Transco and Genco CMD D Prabhakar Rao, Chief Advisor to the Telangana government Rajiv Sharma, Special Chief Secretary Ajay Mishra, DGP M Mahender Reddy and other officials attended the meeting.
