The Congress has welcomed the Telangana High Court's decision to dismiss a writ petition filed by BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who questioned the legal validity of the State's action in constituting the Justice L Narasimha Reddy Commission of Inquiry to investigate alleged irregularities in the purchasing of power from Chhattisgarh during the BRS regime.

Speaking at a press conference at the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) office here on Monday, Government Whip Aadi Srinivas along with Mahabubnagar MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy said that the High Court's decision was a slap on the face of KCR as the latter was trying to escape from the investigation.

Srinivas said that the BRS president had forgotten that everyone is equal before the law.

"KCR should appear before the Justice Narasimha Reddy Commission and tell the facts," he said.

The Congress MLA further said that if KCR was found guilty during the investigation, the latter would be punished as per the law.

He said that the KCR government's irregularities were coming out one after the other, and that the current Congress government would definitely take action against those responsible.

Yennam Srinivas Reddy, who represents the Mahbubnagar Assembly constituency, asked why KCR was not appearing before the commission.

"Even though there was a possibility to buy electricity at a low price, the previous BRS government bought it at a high price. KCR is not attending the Narasimha Reddy Commission because the truth will be revealed," the Congress MLA said.
