BRS chief and former Chief Minister and K Chandrashekar Rao received a blow in the Telangana High Court today.
The apex court of the State dismissed his petition to dissolve the Justice Narasimha Reddy Commission set up by the State government to probe the power purchases and other issues during the BRS regime.
In his petition, KCR alleged that the commission was acting unilaterally. Advocate General Sudarshan Reddy appeared for the State government, and senior Supreme Court counsel appeared on behalf of KCR. Agreeing with the Advocate General's arguments, High Court Chief Justice Alok Aradhe dismissed KCR's petition and said that the Commission could continue its inquiry.
The commission has already issued notices to several people and conducted an inquiry. Prabhakar Rao, who was the CMD in the previous government, was also served with notices, and his statement recorded by members of the commission.
The commission also issued notices to KCR twice. KCR did not appear before it, and instead went to the High Court seeking the dissolution of the commission. With the latest court verdict, the commission is expected to issue notices to KCR once again, likely in a day or two. Meanhile, KCR might also go to the Supreme Court challenging the High Court verdict.
