The Election Commission on Monday announced that the by-elections for 10 constituencies will be held on July 27. Elections to Vemulawada and Sircilla will be held later, as election petitions are pending because petitioners have sought to be declared elected.
The constituencies for which elections are to be held are Sirpur Kagaznagar, Chennur, Mancherial, Yellareddy, Nizamabad (Urban), Koratla, Dharmapuri, Huzurabad, Siddipet and Warangal West.
The last date of filing of papers is July 9. The papers will be scrutinised the next day, and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is July 12.
Voting will begin at 7am and end at 5pm, and the counting of votes will take place on July 30.
With Monday's announcement, the model code of conduct has come into effect.
According to a press release, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used in all the constituencies. The EC had made provisions to ensure the availability of adequate numbers of EVMs, and has said that "all steps have been taken to ensure that the poll is conducted smoothly with the help of these machines."
